What's FRP Fitting?
FRP pipe fittings are high-performance pipe connectors made of fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP), which are widely used in industries such as petroleum, chemical, electric power, municipal administration, and environmental protection. FRP pipe fittings have the advantages of corrosion resistance, high strength, light weight, and easy installation, and are an ideal substitute for traditional metal pipe fittings.
Advantages of FRP pipe fittings
- Excellent corrosion resistance
FRP pipe fittings are made of a composite of resin matrix (such as epoxy resin, unsaturated polyester resin, etc.) and glass fiber. They can resist corrosion from a variety of chemical media such as acids, alkalis, salts, organic solvents, etc., and are suitable for highly corrosive environments.
- High strength and light weight
The strength of FRP pipe fittings is close to that of steel, but their weight is only 1/4 of that of steel pipes, making them easy to transport and install, greatly reducing construction costs.
- Good fluid performance
The inner wall of FRP pipe fittings is smooth and has a low friction coefficient, which can effectively reduce fluid resistance and improve transportation efficiency. It is suitable for high flow rate media.
- Adapt to complex environments
Since FRP pipe fittings will not rust or scale, their service life can reach more than 50 years, which is much longer than traditional metal pipe fittings, and the maintenance cost is extremely low.
- Environmentally friendly and low maintenance
Fiberglass pipe fittings can be used for a long time in the temperature range of -40℃ to 120℃. Some specially formulated products can even withstand higher temperatures and are suitable for extreme working conditions.
Main types of FRP pipe fittings
- FRP elbows
Used to change the direction of the pipeline. Common angles include 45°, 90°, 180°, etc., suitable for chemical, sewage treatment and other industries.
- FRP tees/crosses
Used for pipeline branch connection. They are divided into equal-diameter tees and reducing tees. They are suitable for oil and natural gas transportation systems.
- FRP flanges
Used for connecting pipelines with valves and equipment. They have good sealing and pressure bearing capacity and meet international standards (such as GB, ANSI, DIN, etc.).
- FRP reducers (large and small heads)
Used for connecting pipelines of different diameters to reduce fluid resistance. They are suitable for pump stations and water treatment systems.
- FRP pipe joints
Including socket-type, butt-joint, threaded connection and other forms to ensure the sealing and stability of the pipeline system.
